Short answer. Three people can write a score: the group's scorekeeper (for their group), any Commissioner or co-organizer (for anyone), and the player for their own card. Scores can be changed at any time while the round is UPCOMING or LIVE. Once scoring is closed, every score is locked until the Commissioner reopens the round.

On the iOS Live Activity widget the rule is tighter: only the assigned scorekeeper (or a solo golfer) can write from the widget.
Fixing a score during the round
Open the scorecard, jump to the hole with Choose hole, and tap the right number. The old score is replaced. To blank a hole, tap the selected score and confirm "Clear [name]'s score? This hole will return to incomplete." Strokes must be between 1 and 20.
Fixing a score after scoring is closed
- The Commissioner opens the Round Hub and chooses Reopen round from the "•••" menu, giving a short reason. See Reopen a round.
- Correct the score on the scorecard.
- Close scoring again and, if results had already been published, publish the corrected results. That becomes a new numbered revision; the old one is kept.
How it works: two devices, one hole
Each save is checked against what the device last saw for that cell. If another phone changed the hole in the meantime, the save is refused rather than silently overwriting it, and you are asked to look before trying again. A player's own entries always win over a stale baseline, so a golfer tapping their own score in the widget never fights with their own card.
If it doesn't work
- "You can't enter this score." You are not the scorekeeper for this group, not a manager, and this is not your own card.
- "This round is closed. The commissioner can reopen it from the round hub to make changes." Scoring has been closed. Only a reopen unlocks the card.
- "This hole changed on another device. Reload the card, check the current score, then enter your correction again." Someone else saved this cell first. Reload and check before re-entering.
- "A score changed on another device. Open Ringer and check the card before trying again." The widget version of the same message.
- "This hole already has a different score. Open the app to correct it." Solo widget: fix it in the app.
- "Reload the card before saving this score." The card on your screen is out of date. Reload it.
- "Only the assigned scorekeeper can enter this group's scores." / "This group needs a valid assigned scorekeeper before scoring." Widget scoring needs the designated scorekeeper. Use the app, or have the Commissioner assign one.
- "The scoring group changed. Open Ringer to refresh the card." Pairings moved. Open the app to load the current group.
