Terms of Service
The ground rules.
Effective August 7, 2026
These terms cover using Ringer to plan outings, keep score, run money games, and receive our texts. The short version: you must be 18+, play fair, the wagers are strictly between you and your group (Ringer never touches the money), scores and handicaps are for friendly play, and you can stop our texts anytime by replying STOP. Here are the details.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account, joining an outing, or receiving messages from Ringer, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Ringer. Ringer (“Ringer,” “we,” “us,” “our”), operated by Andrew Eddy, doing business as Ringer, provides the app and website at ringer.golf. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Ringer.
2. What Ringer is
Ringer is a tool for organizing golf games, weekends, and trips: creating outings, inviting players, building groups and teams, keeping hole-by-hole scores, computing standings and side games, and helping your group settle up afterward. Ringer is a coordination and scorekeeping tool — not a betting operator, money-transmission or payment-processing service, gambling operator, or official handicapping authority.
3. Eligibility & your account
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher) to create an account or take part in any money game.
- You represent that you are not barred from using the service under the laws of your jurisdiction, and that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or listed on any U.S. Government prohibited- or restricted-party list.
- Provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure — you’re responsible for activity under your account.
- You’re responsible for information you enter about other players, including having their permission to add their name, handicap, or mobile number for game messaging.
4. Acceptable use
Don’t use Ringer to break the law, harass or defame others, upload others’ personal data without permission, cheat or falsify scores to defraud other players, infringe anyone’s rights, disrupt or reverse- engineer the service, or attempt to access data that isn’t yours. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service or violate these Terms.
5. Text-messaging program
Program: Ringer golf-outing coordination. When a mobile number is added to an outing, Ringer sends game-related texts: invitations, RSVP confirmations, tee-time and pairing announcements, reminders, and results. Recipients can reply IN, OUT, or MAYBEto RSVP. These are transactional and conversational messages only — Ringer sends no marketing or promotional texts.
How you opt in (consent). No purchase is required to receive these messages, and consent is never a condition of any purchase. Recipients are members of a private golf group known to the organizer. You opt in by giving your mobile number to a Ringer game organizer — in person or by your own message — and agreeing to receive texts about that outing, or by entering your own number when you join a game. The organizer then enters consenting players’ names and numbers into Ringer to invite them to a specific outing, and confirms that each player consented. Numbers are used solely to coordinate the outing the person joined and are never purchased, rented, sold, or shared with third parties.
- Message frequency varies based on the games you take part in — typically a handful of messages per outing.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan and carrier.
- To stop receiving messages, reply STOP at any time. You’ll get one confirmation and no further texts.
- For help, reply HELP or email support@ringer.golf.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers may vary.
We handle your mobile number and opt-in as described in our Privacy Policy — we never share or sell it.
6. Games, wagers & settling up
Ringer lets your group set up side games and track who owes whom — skins, Nassau, birdie pools, contests, and the like. This is important: any money games are private, social arrangements between you and your playing partners.
- Ringer does not collect, hold, escrow, process, or transfer any money, and takes no rake, cut, fee, or commission from any game. We simply compute the results your group agreed to and display a settle-up summary.
- Any “pay” or “request” links (for example, to Venmo or PayPal) are conveniences that pre-fill an amount — the actual payment happens in that third-party app, directly between players, under that app’s terms. Ringer is not a party to, and has no responsibility for, those payments.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that any wager is lawful in your location and among consenting participants, and for any taxes owed. You represent that you will not use Ringer’s money-game features where prohibited by law.
- Ringer is not a gambling service, sportsbook, or game of chance operator. Ringer settles no disputes about wagers and guarantees no payment between players.
7. Handicaps & scoring
Handicap and net-scoring calculations in Ringer are provided for friendly play and convenience. They are not an official World Handicap System™ index or a USGA/authority-sanctioned result, and a GHIN® number you enter is stored only as a reference. Course data and stroke indexes may be incomplete or approximate. Settle your games in good faith; Ringer isn’t responsible for scoring disputes or the accuracy of computed results.
8. Third-party services
Ringer relies on and links to third-party services — including payment apps (e.g., Venmo, PayPal), mapping and course data, handicap references, and hosting/authentication providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Ringer does not control and is not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their content, and their inclusion is not an endorsement.
9. Your content & feedback
You keep ownership of the information you put into Ringer. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content as needed to operate and provide the service to you and your group. You’re responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for having the rights to share it.
If you send us feedback, ideas, or suggestions, you grant Ringer a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use them for any purpose without obligation to you.
10. Intellectual property
Ringer’s name, logo, fox mark, design, and software are ours (or our licensors’) and are protected by law. These Terms don’t grant you any right to use them except to use the service as intended. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your personal, non-commercial golf organizing.
11. Termination
You may stop using Ringer and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including §§6, 9–10 and 12–17 — survive.
12. Disclaimers
Ringer is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that scores, standings, handicaps, or notifications will always be accurate, delivered, or timely.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ringer and its operators, officers, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost money, wagers, winnings, data, or goodwill arising from or relating to your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (which, for the free tier, is zero) or USD $100.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ringer and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, your content, your wagers or payments with other players, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
15. Dispute resolution & governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us at support@ringer.golf and try in good faith to resolve it informally for at least 30 days. Any dispute not resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you and Ringer consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
16. Apple App Store & other platforms
If you download Ringer from the Apple App Store, the following also applies, and Apple terms control to the extent of any conflict:
- These Terms are between you and Ringer only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your license to use the app is a non-transferable license to use it on any Apple-branded product you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules.
- Ringer, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and for providing any maintenance and support; Apple has no obligation to furnish support.
- Ringer, not Apple, is responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Ringer, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal or regulatory, and intellectual-property claims.
- You represent that you are not located in a U.S.-embargoed country or on a U.S. prohibited-parties list.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Similar platform terms (e.g., Google Play) apply where you obtain the app from another store.
17. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Ringer about the service.
- Severability. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. Our not enforcing a right isn’t a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We’re not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Electronic communications. You consent to receive notices and agreements from us electronically.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as Ringer grows. If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
