Privacy Policy
Your data, handled with care.
Effective August 7, 2026
Ringer helps you plan golf outings and run the games with your crew. We collect only what we need to do that, we don't sell your information, and we never share your phone number or text-messaging opt-in with anyone for marketing. Here's exactly what we collect and why.
1. Who we are
Ringer (“Ringer,” “we,” “us”), operated by Andrew Eddy, doing business as Ringer, provides the Ringer app and website at ringer.golf — a tool for organizing golf games, weekends, and trips, keeping score, and settling up friendly wagers. This policy explains how we handle personal information for people who create an account, join an outing, or receive our text messages.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to run your games:
- Account details — your name, email address, password (stored encrypted), and optional handicap index and GHIN® number.
- Game information — outings you create or join, your RSVPs, groups and teams, hole-by-hole scores, and the money games you opt into.
- Contact details you provide about others — when you organize an outing, you may add a player’s name and mobile number so Ringer can invite them and send game updates. You are responsible for having permission to share their number with us for this purpose.
- Text-message activity — the phone number a message is sent to or received from, delivery status, and the content of RSVP replies (e.g., “IN,” “OUT,” “STOP”).
- Basic usage & device data — log data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, used to keep the service secure and working.
We do not collect payment card details. Any money you settle with your group is handled directly between you and your playing partners through third-party apps like Venmo or PayPal — Ringer never touches those funds (see our Terms).
3. How we use your information
- To create and run your outings — invitations, RSVPs, pairings, tee times, live scoring, standings, and settle-up.
- To send you game-related text messages and notifications you’ve opted into.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To communicate with you about your account or important service changes.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
4. Text messages (SMS)
Program & consent.Ringer’s messaging program is golf-outing coordination. Recipients opt in by giving their mobile number to a game organizer and agreeing to receive texts about a specific outing (or by entering their own number when they join). No purchase is required and consent is never a condition of purchase.
If a mobile number is added to an outing, Ringer may send text messages such as game invitations, RSVP confirmations, tee-time and pairing announcements, and reminders. Message frequency varies by the games you’re part of. Message and data rates may apply.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message; you will receive one confirmation and then no further texts. Reply HELP for help, or email support@ringer.golf. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We will never share or sell your phone number or your SMS opt-in.Mobile information collected for text messaging — including phone numbers and consent — is used solely to operate Ringer’s messaging and is not shared with, sold to, or disclosed to any third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only in these limited cases:
- With your group — your name, RSVP status, scores, and standings are visible to the other members of an outing you join. That’s the point of a shared game.
- With service providers who help us run Ringer, under contracts that limit their use of the data to serving us — currently our hosting and database provider (Supabase, Vercel), our text-message provider (Twilio), and our email provider (Resend). They process data only to deliver the service.
- For legal reasons — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or Ringer.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and game history for as long as your account is active so your records and season standings stay intact. If you delete your account, we remove or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.
7. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, encrypted storage of sensitive fields, and access controls that keep each group’s data isolated from every other group’s. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information and to limit what we collect in the first place.
8. Your choices & rights
- Access & update — view and edit your profile and handicap in the app at any time.
- Text opt-out — reply STOP to stop all messages.
- Delete — permanently delete your account and personal data anytime from Me → Delete account in the app. You can also email support@ringer.golf if you prefer.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data; contact us and we’ll honor applicable requests.
9. Children’s privacy
Ringer is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Ringer evolves. If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Ringer after a change means you accept the updated policy.
