  3. "Scoring opens at your tee time": the lock and going early

Short answer. The scorecard unlocks 15 minutes before your group's tee time on the round date. If your group is starting sooner, tap "We're going early" on the card and scoring opens for that group right away. A round with no tee time is never locked.

How it works

  • The lock is per group and uses the group's tee time. Group 1 at 7:30 unlocks at 7:15; Group 2 at 7:40 unlocks at 7:25.
  • Before that moment the scorecard shows "Scoring opens 15 min before your 8:15 AM tee time." (or "Scoring isn't open yet.") with a "We're going early" button.
  • Tapping the button unlocks only your group. Other groups keep their own schedule.
  • The same lock and button appear on the no-login scorekeeper link.
  • In Manage, the Commissioner sees a badge that reads "Scoring opens 7:45 AM" until the window opens, then "Scoring open". The setup note says: "Your round is ready. Score entry opens 15 minutes before tee time. You can still manage groups and player tees."

Steps

To score before the window opens:

  1. Open the scorecard for your group.
  2. Read the message showing when scoring opens.
  3. Tap "We're going early". The card unlocks for your group and stays unlocked.

Who can do this

Anyone who can open the group's scorecard, in the app or through the scorekeeper link, can tap "We're going early". The Commissioner does not have to do it for you.

Good to know

  • The lock only delays score entry. The round itself is already LIVE and handicaps are already frozen once the Commissioner has started it.
  • If the tee time in Manage is wrong, the Commissioner can change it under Groups & pairings, and the lock follows the new time.
  • The lock has nothing to do with closing a round. Closed rounds show a different message: "This round is closed. The commissioner can reopen it from the round hub to make changes."

If it doesn't work

  • The button does nothing or the card stays locked: check your signal, then reload the card. The unlock is saved on the server, so once it goes through it holds on every device.
  • You unlocked the wrong group: there is no re-lock. Just score at your normal time; an early unlock does not change anything else.
