Short answer. A round moves through UPCOMING → LIVE → REVIEW → FINAL. Before the Commissioner can tap Start round, the Round Hub checklist needs groups, tees, and (for more than one group) a scorekeeper. Starting freezes every player's handicap for the round.
How it works
The Round Hub shows a readiness checklist once nobody on the roster is still "invited". Until then, the invite tools lead.
| Item | Required? | Blocker text |
|---|---|---|
| Groups & pairings | Required | "Set groups to start." |
| Tee selections | Required | "Choose tees to start." |
| Scorekeeper | Required when more than one player and more than one group | "Assign a scorekeeper to start." |
| Game | Optional | |
| Teams | Optional (team formats) | |
| Handicaps | Optional | |
| Buy-ins collected | Optional, a manual tick shown when money is in play |
Blockers combine with "and", so you might see two at once. Players who are not the host see "Waiting for the host to start".
In Manage the button reads "Create round" when the tee time is still in the future (setup is saved without going live) and "Start round" otherwise. You will see a "Round created" or "Round started" toast.
Round statuses
- UPCOMING: the round is scheduled. Setup can change freely.
- LIVE: the round has started. Handicaps are frozen and scoring is open, subject to the tee-time lock.
- REVIEW: scoring is closed. Scores are locked and results are provisional until published.
- FINAL: an official result has been published. A round is only FINAL once results are published, no matter how long ago scoring closed.
Going back to setup
Started too soon? While no score has been entered, the Round Hub offers ↩ Back to setup (Manage asks "Return this round to setup?"). It puts the round back to UPCOMING and clears the frozen handicaps. Once a single score exists this is no longer available; you would use Clear scores or a reopen instead.
Who can do this
Only the Commissioner or a co-organizer can start a round or return it to setup.
If it doesn't work
- "Set groups for every player before starting." Someone on the roster is not in a group. Fix it in Groups & pairings.
- "Choose a tee for every player before starting." A player has no tee, at the round, group, or player level. See Choose tees.
- "Assign a scorekeeper to each group before starting." See Assigning a scorekeeper.
- "Only the commissioner can open or close a round." You are not a manager of this outing.
- "Round not found." The round was deleted or the page is stale. Reload.
- "Could not prepare the scorecard. Check the players and course, then try again." Freezing handicaps failed and the round was rolled back to scheduled. Check every player's tee and the course card, then start again.
- "Scores are already in — this round is underway." Back to setup is not possible once a score exists.
