Short answer. The League HQ share link follows the current open round automatically. When a golfer uses it, they request a place to play; new golfers join the league as part of the same form. Manage → Signups also has a league-only registration link and a pinned link for a specific round. You control approval, capacity, deadline and allocation there.
How it works
The league registration link
- Share it from Manage → Signups → League registration. This league-only link has
?league=1and does not request a weekly spot. It opens a public form asking for name, email, phone, Handicap Index, a club-membership confirmation, an optional note and text-message consent. - Settings: requires approval (on or off), capacity (1 to 1,000), registration deadline (a date), default round capacity and the round allocation policy.
- With approval on, each request waits in Signups until you approve or decline it.
- Every signup alerts everyone who manages members, plus club owners and admins, by email and, where enabled, text. The subject is "{name} wants to join {league}" or "{name} joined the waitlist — {league}", with a link straight to the Signups panel.
A round signup link
- From the week, turn on public signup. League HQ and the current Round signup share use a durable league URL that resolves to the earliest open upcoming round on each visit. A previously shared link advances after a round closes. A specific week's
?round=link stays pinned while that week is upcoming; after it passes, visitors are sent to the current signup. - The form says which date the golfer requests to play. A new golfer also registers for the league; a request is subject to field confirmation.
- Pairing preferences: off, "new people" (the golfer asks to play with people they haven't played with), or requests (the golfer names people they'd like to play with, two by default).
- A round accepts requests only while public signup is on, inside its open and close windows, before the field is confirmed, while the round is still scheduled and dated today or later, and before any score is saved.
Pause or rotate
Every link has a status: active, paused or closed. Pausing stops new submissions without changing the address; rotating issues a new address so the old one stops working. Rotate when a link has leaked.
Who can do this
Commissioner or co-commissioner. Club owners and admins share roster and member management, so they also see signup alerts.
Good to know
- Rate limits protect the public form. A golfer who submits too fast sees "Too many responses — give it a minute and try again."
- A golfer who already registered can't resubmit; they see "Contact the commissioner to update your existing registration or round request."
- Golfers arriving through a round link may be asked to choose tees. If the course or tees change after the link went out, they see "The course or tee options have changed. Please refresh this invitation."
If it doesn't work
- "You don't run this League." Registration settings need league management rights.
- "Capacity must be between 1 and 1,000.", "Choose a valid registration deadline.", "Round capacity must be between 1 and 1,000.", "Choose a valid Round allocation policy." Fix the field named.
- "Couldn't approve this golfer. Refresh and try again." / "Couldn't decline this request. Refresh and try again." Refresh Signups; another manager may have acted first.
- "This round cannot accept public requests. Check the round date, signup window and league invitation settings." One of the conditions above isn't met.
- "You don't manage this league's signups." Round signup links need the commissioner or co-commissioner.
- "Couldn't update this invite — please try again." / "Couldn't rotate this invite — please try again." Temporary; retry.
- "Couldn't save registration settings." Temporary; retry.
