Short answer. From Club, choose new league, give it a name and, if you like, its usual course. Only a club owner or admin can create one. A four-step wizard then sets up the first season, and the Manage hub checklist shows what's left before you can start.
Steps
- Go to Club → New league.
- Enter the League name (required, up to 80 characters) and optionally the Usual course. The course must be one attached to your club.
- Create the league. Ringer opens the setup wizard with four steps: Name the season, Set the playing rhythm, Give it an identity, Build the League roster.
- Work through the Manage hub checklist: "League identity", "Playing rhythm", "Signup page", "First round scheduled". The hub shows "Ready to start" once the league has a roster and a season field. Starting the season makes it active.
How it works
- Identity. A tagline up to 100 characters, a description up to 600, plus a logo and hero image. League emails use your logo, or the Ringer icon if you haven't uploaded one.
- Roster. Add golfers by email (an existing account is reused; otherwise a placeholder profile is created that the golfer claims later), pick them from the club roster, or let them register through the signup link. You can upload a placeholder golfer's profile photo until they claim their account.
- Wizard defaults. The wizard pre-sets the team handicap allowance to 85%, skins paid per skin, and close-ups as a group greenie. Change these under playing rhythm.
- Manage hub panels. Overview, signups, roster, schedule, competition, settings, rhythm, capacity and payments.
Who can do this
Creating a league needs a club owner or admin. Editing identity and roster is open to the commissioner, co-commissioners and club owners or admins. Season and rhythm settings are commissioner and co-commissioner only.
Good to know
Archiving or deleting a league
From the league's lifecycle panel in Manage you can archive, restore or delete. Every action requires typing the league name exactly. Delete is refused once the league has any rounds, competition history, honors or records; archive it instead, which keeps everything. Archived leagues are listed under Club → Archived leagues and can be restored.
If it doesn't work
- "Give the league a name." / "That name is too long." The name is required, 80 characters at most.
- "You don't run this club." Only a club owner or admin can create a league.
- "Choose a course attached to this club." / "Couldn't verify that course — please try again." The usual course must already be attached to the club.
- "Name this season.", "Choose when the season starts.", "Choose a starting time." Wizard fields that must be filled.
- "Keep the tagline under 100 characters."
- "Choose an image first." / "We couldn't save that image. Please try again." Retry the logo or hero upload.
- "This golfer owns their profile photo now that they have claimed their account." You can no longer change it.
- "Type the League name exactly to confirm." Archive and delete require the exact name.
- "This League has rounds or competition history. Archive it to keep those records." / "This League has saved honors or records. Archive it to preserve its history." Delete isn't available; archive.
