Short answer. Every counting week awards points by finishing position, plus a participation credit, and the total is multiplied by the week's weight. Tied players share the tied slots equally. The standings are recomputed from each week's final result; nothing is typed in by hand.
How it's calculated
Defaults
| Item | Default |
|---|---|
| Placement points, 1st to 15th | 100, 90, 80, 70, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10 |
| Participation | 5 |
| Tail (any finish beyond the placement list) | 5 |
| Week weight | 1 to 10, set per week |
The formula
points = (sum of the tied placement slots ÷ number tied + participation) × weight
Finishes use golf ties: two players tied for first are both 1st, and the next player is 3rd.
Worked example
Three players tie for 2nd in a week weighted 1. They share slots 2, 3 and 4: 90 + 80 + 70 = 240, and 240 ÷ 3 = 80. Each earns (80 + 5) × 1 = 85 points. The next finisher is 5th and earns (60 + 5) × 1 = 65. Had the commissioner weighted the week 2, the tied players would earn 170 each.
A finish beyond 15th earns tail points in place of a placement slot: (5 + 5) × 1 = 10.
A golfer credited for taking part without a scored finish gets participation points only. Depending on your league's scoring mode, that credit may be awarded without the week's weight.
Ranking and honors
Players rank by points, then by fewer rounds played. Movement arrows compare each player against the Table as it stood before the latest counting day. The low round honor goes to the best gross score (then to par) among league members.
How it works
- Weights. Give a week a weight from 1 to 10 in the season's competition settings to make a championship week count more. Money is never weighted.
- Changing rules mid-season. Editing the scoring creates a new rule version effective today, and past weeks keep the rules they were played under. If a change would alter weeks already played, Ringer stops you: "{n} already-played Week(s) would change. Review the impact and use the explicit retrospective correction flow." A retrospective change needs a reason.
- Hybrid team + individual net. Some leagues score team points from the Net Fourball result plus individual bonus tiers for lowest net, top 25%, top 50% and any complete score. Bonus tiers must decrease in that order, and hybrid points are published per round once results are published.
- Engraved seasons. Closing a season engraves its final standings and champion. An engraved season can't be edited: "This season is engraved and can't be changed."
Who can do this
Scoring rules, weights and the season field are commissioner and co-commissioner only.
If it doesn't work
- "Set at least a first-place points value.", "Placement points must be zero or more.", "Participation points must be zero or more.", "Tail points must be zero or more." Every value must be zero or more; first place is required.
- "Too many placement slots." The list stops at 100 places.
- "Weight must be a number.", "Weight must be at least 1.", "Weight can't exceed 10."
- "Individual bonus tiers must decrease from lowest net to other complete scores." Reorder the hybrid tiers.
- "Publish the round results before calculating season standings." Hybrid points wait for published results.
