Short answer. A league has a commissioner, co-commissioners and members. The club above it has an owner, admins and members. Season setup and scoring belong to the commissioner and co-commissioners only, and a few actions, such as closing scoring, are commissioner-only.
How it works
Club roles
- Owner. Runs the club. Can create leagues and is the only person who can move a member between member and admin.
- Admin. Can create leagues and manage club members.
- Member. Belongs to the club and can join its leagues.
League roles
- Commissioner. Runs the league end to end.
- Co-commissioner. Shares almost everything with the commissioner.
- Member. Plays.
Who can do what
| Action | Commissioner | Co-commissioner | Club owner or admin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Create a league in the club | Only if also a club owner or admin | No | Yes |
| Edit league identity, manage the roster | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Season rules, season field, schedule, playing rhythm | Yes | Yes | No |
| Playing groups, scoring links, Scorecard Center | Yes | Yes | No |
| Close scoring and draw partners | Yes | No | No |
| Participation corrections after play | Yes | No | No |
Club owners and admins never get season or scoring powers in a league, even though they can manage its members.
Club member management
- Only the club owner can change a member's role between member and admin. Anyone else sees "Only a Club owner can change that role."
- The owner can suspend or restore admins and members. Admins can suspend or restore ordinary members only.
- Nobody can suspend themselves, and a member who left is never silently restored.
Good to know
- Your league role only counts while your club membership is active and the club is active on Ringer. If either lapses you see a limited Club screen, such as "Club access paused" or "Club unavailable", until it is restored.
- A league that isn't attached to a club can't pull golfers from a club roster.
If it doesn't work
- "You don't run this club." Creating a league needs a club owner or admin.
- "You don't run this league." Editing league details needs a commissioner, co-commissioner, or club owner or admin.
- "You don't run this season." Season changes need a commissioner or co-commissioner.
- "Only the commissioner can close scoring and draw partners." Ask the commissioner, not a co-commissioner.
- "Sign in as the commissioner to change participation." Participation corrections are commissioner-only.
- "Only a commissioner can change Scorecard Center settings." Scorecard settings need league scoring rights.
- "You don't have permission to change this member's access." / "You don't have permission to add Club members." Club member changes need a club owner or admin.
