The button appears only on a row you pay, only when the person you owe has added a Venmo handle, and only when settle-up is turned on and you are signed in

  3. The Venmo button is missing

Short answer. Ringer builds the Venmo button from the winner's handle, so it cannot show until that person has added one. It appears only to the payer (and the Commissioner), on the Results page's Settle up rows or the board's Money tab, and only when the Commissioner has switched settle-up to Individual or Banker. Ask the winner to add their handle, or add yours if people owe you.

Why it happens

Ringer never moves money. The button is a link into Venmo with the amount and a note already filled in; the payment itself happens between the two of you. That is why it needs three things:

  1. The payee's handle. Each row shows "+ Add [Name]'s @venmo" until they add it, then "waiting on [Name]'s @venmo" to everyone else, then ✓ @handle. Anyone can add their own; the Commissioner can add it for anyone.
  2. A row you are on. A signed-in player sees only transfers they are part of, and the button sits on the rows where they are the payer. The Commissioner sees every row. People viewing through a shared link see the leaderboard and earnings but no settle rows at all.
  3. Settle-up switched on. With the mode Off ("Who-pays-who is hidden. Everyone still sees their own net.") there are no rows to pay. The Commissioner chooses Individual ("Losers pay winners directly — the fewest payments.") or Banker ("Everyone antes into the pot; the banker pays the winners out of it.") on the Results page before publishing.

What to do

  1. Open the round's Results page and go to Games & money → Settle up. If you owe someone and their row reads "+ Add [Name]'s @venmo", ask them to tap it and enter their handle (with or without the @). If people owe you, add yours the same way. The Commissioner can fill in any handle.
  2. If there are no rows at all, ask the Commissioner to set the settlement mode on the Results page. That is only possible before final results are published; afterwards it reads "The settlement plan is frozen with this result revision. Reopen the round and publish a correction to change it."
  3. If you are looking at a shared link, sign in. Share-link viewers never see pay buttons.
  4. If you entered a Venmo handle on a sign-up form and it is not showing on the row, enter it again on the settle row. That is the handle the button uses.
  5. Once paid, tap Mark paid on the row (payer or Commissioner). A row that reads "Recorded" is in the ledger and stays paid across corrections.

The button opens Venmo with the amount and the note "Ringer · [round name]". Check the amount in Venmo before you send; if the golf has been corrected since, the row will say "That amount changed from $A to $B. Refresh before paying."
