Short answer. Once money has actually changed hands, the payer or the Commissioner taps "Mark paid" on the settle-up row. Ringer records it as a cash fact. Recorded payments cannot be undone from the app today, so mark a row paid only after the money has moved.
Steps
- Open the round's Results (or the Board's money tab) and find the row.
- Pay the player, in Venmo or however you like.
- Tap "Mark paid". The row reads "Settled ✓" and the header count moves, for example "Settle up · 3 of 4 settled".
How it works
Before recording, Ringer recomputes the row from the current scores. If the row has disappeared or the amount has changed, it refuses rather than record the wrong number. Otherwise it writes a permanent entry to the payment ledger with the amount and a fingerprint of the round's math. Tapping twice records it once.
The Money tab shows every entry under "Recorded payments" with the note "Cash facts are permanent. Corrections never rewrite this history." When everything matches it reads "All money reconciled"; otherwise "Still outstanding" with the amount remaining.
Corrections
Because a payment is a fact about cash, a later score correction never edits it. Ringer works out what is still owed as current net − payments recorded. If you paid $10 and the corrected result says you owed $2, Ringer shows an $8 payment back the other way. If the golf now says $0 but payments exist, the tab notes "Current golf obligation is $0." and "Payment history remains visible because cash movement is never erased by a score or game correction."
Who can do this
- The player who owes the money, or the Commissioner.
- Winners cannot mark a row paid for the payer.
- Share-link viewers cannot mark anything; rows are read-only.
Good to know
- Rows recorded in the ledger show "Recorded" with no undo. There is no way to reverse a recorded payment from the app today, so wait until the money has moved.
- An "Undo" button appears only on older rows that were marked before the ledger existed, and on rounds settled in Banker mode.
- A recorded payment stays paid across republished revisions as long as the round, the two players, and the amount still match.
- Marking a row paid is bookkeeping. Ringer does not move any money. See Ringer never touches money.
If it doesn't work
- "Only the payer or the commissioner can mark this paid." Ask the person who owes, or the Commissioner, to mark it.
- "That payment is no longer outstanding. Refresh Money to see the current balance." A correction cleared this row. Refresh.
- "That amount changed from $A to $B. Refresh before paying." The scores changed since you opened the page. Refresh and pay the new amount.
- "Invalid payment." The row could not be matched. Refresh and try again.
- "Not signed in." Sign in and try again.
