Short answer. Settle-up nets every game and contest in the round into one figure per player, then works out the fewest direct payments that settle everyone. Losers pay winners. No banker is needed.
How it works
- One net per player. Ringer sums your result from every funded game linked to the round, plus contests and Trash. A game with a stake of $0 is left out. If you won the skins but lost the Nassau, you owe or receive only the difference. The Money tab shows this as "$X across the individual games → $Y after cross-netting."
- The fewest payments. With nets in hand, Ringer matches the biggest debtor to the biggest creditor, over and over, in whole cents, until everyone is square. The person who owes makes the payment; winners just receive.
Example: Ann is +$30, Ben +$10, Cal −$25, Dan −$15. Ringer lists three payments: Cal pays Ann $25, Dan pays Ann $5, Dan pays Ben $10.
Scope: round or outing
Settle-up is per round wherever a round is selected, which includes the Results page, the published result, and the payment ledger. The outing-wide view on the Board, with no round selected, nets every game in the outing and includes manual side bets. Side bets are never copied into a single round's result.
Settlement modes
The Commissioner picks a mode per round, before the result is published:
- Off (default): "Who-pays-who is hidden. Everyone still sees their own net."
- Individual: "Losers pay winners directly — the fewest payments."
- Banker: "Everyone antes into the pot; the banker pays the winners out of it." Only ante pots (buy-in games, contests) route through the banker. Direct wagers such as Nassau, Match Play, per-skin Skins, 9-Point, Sixes, and Trash are still settled player to player.
Once the result is published the mode is frozen: "The settlement plan is frozen with this result revision. Reopen the round and publish a correction to change it."
Reading the rows
Each row says what it is: "they owe you", "you owe", or "to settle" for direct payments; "your ante — pay the pot", "owed into your pot", "pay out of the pot", and "your winnings" in Banker mode; "Settled ✓" once paid. The header counts progress: "Settle up · k of n settled".
Who can do this
- Signed-in players see only the rows they are part of, and always their own net.
- The Commissioner sees the whole ledger and sets the mode and banker.
- Anyone viewing from a share link sees the leaderboard and earnings, but no settle-up rows.
Good to know
- Nets are rounded to cents and always sum to zero. If a game's money cannot be reconciled (for instance a fixed purse that does not match the pot), that game is skipped and the Money tab shows a "Check ledger" or "Mismatch" badge.
- After a result is published, unpaid rows appear on the Doghouse with how many days late they are.
If it doesn't work
- "Only the commissioner can change settle-up." Ask the Commissioner to change the mode.
- "Choose the banker for this round." / "Choose a banker from this outing." Banker mode needs a banker who is on the outing.
- "Choose a round before changing settlement." / "That round is no longer available." Open the round first, then set the mode.
- "Settlement could not be saved. Try again." Check your signal and retry.
