- Skins say provisional or pending
Short answer. A hole is not a skin until everyone in the skins field has a score on it. While the group behind is still playing that hole, the board marks it pending and every later hole provisional, because a carryover cannot be known yet. Nothing is wrong. It resolves as the last card comes in, or when the Commissioner completes the round.
Why it happens
Skins are decided hole by hole across the whole field, not within one group. A hole settles when every expected player (anyone in the round who is not marked WD, DNF, NS or DQ) has posted it, or when the round is completed. Until then Ringer shows the provisional low as leading. On the board's Skins tab the legend reads "Solid = won · dashed = leading, settles once the whole field finishes the hole". The clubhouse Big Screen shows the count as "N pending".
An unsettled hole makes every later hole provisional too. If the pot could still carry from hole 6, nobody can know what hole 7 is worth. A tie on a settled hole kills the skin, or rolls it forward when Carryovers is on. With "Birdies only" a low score that is not a gross birdie or better wins nothing, and that unit carries or dies the same way.
What to do
- Open the board's Skins tab and look along the row of holes. The first dashed cell tells you which hole the field has not finished. Usually it is the group behind you.
- If a player has walked off, mark them so they stop holding the pot: Round Hub → Manage → Players → set WD, DQ, NS or DNF. The field then settles without them.
- When the last group finishes, close scoring. Once the round is completed, a missing score on a hole simply makes that player ineligible for that hole, and every skin resolves.
- Money is realised at settle-up, not on the board. With "Per skin · variable exposure" every other player owes the winner the stake for each skin won, so a two-unit carried skin pays double. With "Fixed buy-in pot" the pot is split by skins won; if nobody wins a skin all day, the pot goes where the Commissioner set under "If nobody wins a skin": the team-game winners, the Closest to the Pin winners, or a season jackpot.
Nine-hole rounds and shotgun starts work the same way. The board is only ever waiting on a card.
