  3. Photo import missed or misread a hole

Short answer. A blank or wrong cell after a photo import is expected now and then, and nothing is saved until you approve the review. In "Check the scorecard", tap the cell and type the right number, fix the written Out, In and Total boxes if they were misread, then apply. If most of the card came back blank, retake the photo straighter and brighter.

Why it happens

Two independent readings of the photo run at once. Only cells where both agree are kept; a disagreement becomes a blank for you to fill, which is safer than a confident wrong number. Ringer, not the reader, adds up each row and compares it to the Out, In and Total boxes written on the card, so a misread total shows up as a row issue rather than a changed score. Handwriting, glare, a crooked angle and cards scored as +1 or E rather than strokes are the usual causes.

What to do

  1. In "Check the scorecard", match each Ringer player to the right row on the card. Rows are matched by name; use the row picker if a name landed on the wrong line.
  2. Look for the per-row flags "N holes missing", "Out total does not add up", "In total does not add up" and "Card total does not add up". Tap the cell in question, compare it with the cropped image of that row, and enter the score (1 to 20). Totals can be corrected too (1 to 400).
  3. The badge turns to "Totals match" when a row is consistent. The apply button stays disabled with "Fix N issues" until every row is complete and adds up.
  4. If scores were already on the card from live scoring, tick "Replace N existing scores that differ from this card" before applying, or leave it unticked to keep what is there.
  5. Apply. Success reads "Scores saved · N scores applied".

Retake the photo when you see

  • "No player scores were legible — try a straighter, brighter photo."
  • "The card took too long to read. Try a tighter, brighter image." or "Scorecard reading took too long. Try once more or use a tighter crop."
  • "That HEIC/HEIF photo is too large. Choose a screenshot or an image under 3.5 MB." / "That photo is still too large. Crop it to the scorecard and try again."
  • "The scorecard reader is temporarily unavailable (NNN). Your photo was not the problem — try again shortly." Wait a minute and try again.

Who can do this

The group's scorekeeper link, the Commissioner or a co-organizer, or league scoring staff. A personal league link cannot import: "Use the group scorecard to enter scores from this participant link." A closed round refuses with "This round is closed. The commissioner can reopen it from the round hub to make changes."
