- The round won't start because a tee is missing
Short answer. Ringer will not guess a tee. A course handicap comes from the rating and slope of the tee actually played, so a player with no tee on a rated course has no handicap, and the round stays in setup until every player has one. Assign a tee to each group, or to each player, and start again.
Why it happens
You will see one of these:
- "Choose a tee for the player before continuing." / "Choose a tee for all N players before continuing." in Quick Create.
- "Choose tees to start." on the Round Hub readiness list, or "Choose a tee for every player before starting." when you tap Start round.
- "No verified tees are available for this course yet. Ringer will not guess." when the course has no usable tee on its scorecard.
- "That tee isn't on this course." / "That tee isn't on this round's course." when a saved tee belongs to a different course.
- "Choose a listed course before assigning tees." when the round has only a typed course name.
A tee is resolved in this order: the player's own tee, then the group tee, then the round default. Any one of them satisfies the check.
What to do
- In Quick Create, on the "Your groups" step, use Tee setup to apply one tee to everyone ("Choose one verified tee for everyone, then adjust exceptions in their rows."), then change individual rows where needed. Tees are listed as Men's and Women's, longest first, with yardage, rating and slope.
- On an existing round, open Round Hub → Manage → Groups & tee times → Edit › on a group. Set Group tee (or leave Round default) and, per player, either Use group tee or a specific tee. Then tap Start round.
- If the course has no tees, add the scorecard. From the course picker choose Add scorecard, then Read photo or Enter scorecard manually, fill in each tee's name, rating and slope, tick "I checked every tee and hole against the scorecard for [course]." and save. The tee list will now populate. See Course not listed or no scorecard.
- If you only want to keep score, choose "Course not listed?" instead of a listed course. With no course on the round there is no tee to choose; each player's index is used directly and a generic par layout is applied.
Changing a tee after the round has started is allowed only as a correction and re-freezes the affected players' handicaps. The confirm reads "Correct the played tee for this live round? Ringer will recalculate and replace the frozen stroke map in the same transaction. Scores stay intact."
