- I'm not getting texts from Ringer
Short answer. Three things have to be true: Ringer has a US mobile number for you, the message type and the Text messages channel are both on under Profile → Settings → Notifications, and you have not replied STOP. Send yourself a test from that screen; the result tells you which one is missing. Texting is optional, and email carries the same messages.
Why it happens
Ringer sends a text only when the kind of message (Invites, Round reminders, RSVP confirmations, Results and money) and the Text messages channel are both on. Everything is on by default, so a text usually fails for a plainer reason: no number on file, a STOP reply, or texting not being switched on for your deployment or your league. League texts also need the text consent you gave when you registered. Reminders go out once a day, so a same-day change of plan will not produce a same-hour text.
What to do
- Open Profile → Settings → Notifications and tap Send test text.
- If the button is greyed with "No mobile number is saved on your Ringer player record.", Ringer has no number for you. The number comes from the invite or registration your host used; there is no field to type it in Settings. Ask your Commissioner to add or correct it on the roster, or register with it next time.
- "This number opted out. Reply START to Ringer before testing again." You replied STOP at some point. Text START to the Ringer number and you are back in ("Ringer: You're resubscribed to outing texts…").
- "Your Ringer player profile has no valid mobile number." The number on file is not a US mobile. See Enter a valid US mobile number.
- "Text delivery is not configured in this environment." Texting is not switched on for this deployment. Use email.
- "Test text sent to 1234."* Delivery works; check the settings below.
- On the same screen make sure the message type you expected is on, and that Text messages is on. Tap Save notifications.
- For a league, check the status line "Live email and text delivery is enabled." versus "Roster delivery is paused; signed-in self-tests still send." If roster delivery is paused, only tests go out. League reminders also require the commissioner to turn them on, and they may be held for review on some deployments.
- If you are a guest with no account, there are no preferences to check. The Commissioner controls whether you were invited by text, and STOP or START still apply.
- Ask the sender which channel they used. RSVP receipts are email only. A crew-wide text uses the Round reminders type plus the Text channel.
