Course search shows the same course twice or the wrong one

Short answer. Course search merges Ringer's own course list with a public course directory. When one listing matches exactly one Ringer course, the two are folded together. When a club has several courses, the club listing is kept alongside each course so you can choose the specific one. Pick the row with the badge "Ringer Confirmed" or "Complete scorecard" for the course you are actually playing.

Why it happens

Search starts after two characters. Ringer's courses come first, ordered Ringer Confirmed, then complete scorecard, then everything else, then by distance; the public directory's results follow. Each row carries a badge:

BadgeMeaning
"Ringer Confirmed"A Commissioner has checked the scorecard against the printed card.
"Complete scorecard"Every hole and at least one tee is on file, not yet confirmed.
"Scorecard checked when selected"A directory listing. Ringer imports the card when you tap it.
"Scorecard needed"Nothing usable on file yet.

A directory listing is replaced by the Ringer course only when exactly one Ringer course matches it. A facility named after the club (say the club name) with two or three named courses will keep the club row and show each course as its own row. Names in the public directory can also be run together or spelled differently from what is on the sign.

What to do

  1. Search for the course name rather than the club name, or scroll to the row that names the course and tees you will play.
  2. Prefer the row with the strongest badge. If two rows look identical, the confirmed one is the right one.
  3. Tap the row. If Ringer cannot make a usable card from it you will see "The course listing and scorecard data don't agree, so Ringer can't safely score it. Add the printed scorecard to continue." with an Add scorecard button, or "Couldn't load that course's scorecard. Try again, or add the printed scorecard." Add the card from the printed scorecard and carry on.
  4. If the course is not there at all ("No matching courses yet."), tap "Course not listed?" to start the round with a generic layout, or add the scorecard by photo or by hand. See Course not listed or no scorecard.
  5. After the round, a Commissioner can confirm the card from the round's course page so the next search shows one clean "Ringer Confirmed" row. Look for Confirm course scorecard → under Course & tees in Manage.

Nearby search needs location; if it is off you will see "Location wasn't shared. You can still search by course, club, or city." Name search always works.
