Short answer. 9-Point is "5–3–1 every hole". On each completed hole nine points are shared out by net score: 5 to the low, 3 to the middle, 1 to the high (5 · 3 · 1 · 0 with four players). At the end every pair of players settles the difference in their points at the value per point.
How it works
The setup screen explains it: "Nine points are split every completed hole by score." and "Ties pool the occupied places and split them evenly. Three players: 4/4/1 for a tie low, 5/2/2 for a tie high, 3/3/3 if all square."
| Players | Low | 2nd | 3rd | 4th |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 5 | 3 | 1 | |
| 4 | 5 | 3 | 1 | 0 |
Every completed hole distributes exactly nine points. A hole stays pending until every player in the game has posted a score and can be stroked; there are no provisional points. A four-way tie gives 2.25 points each.
Settings
| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Players | Exactly 3 or 4 golfers (Create uses the whole field; Manage lets you choose) | the field |
| How should we score? | Gross · Net (Course strokes) · Net (Off low) | Net, Course strokes |

| Value per point | Dollar amount, stepped by $1 | $1 |
Player count
Exactly 3 or 4 unique players, on one round. In Create the round itself must have 3 or 4 players; in a live round you pick the 3 or 4 from the field.
How it's calculated
How the money is split
"Every pair settles the difference in final points." For each pair, (points A − points B) × value per point moves from the lower to the higher. Ringer rounds the set together so thirds and quarters still sum to zero. 9-Point is a direct wager and never part of a Banker pot.
Worked example
Three players, $1 per point, Net at 100%. On hole 1 Alex nets 4 while Ben and Cal both net 5: Alex 5, Ben 2, Cal 2. On hole 2 all three net par: 3 each. After 18 holes:
| Player | Points | vs Alex | vs Ben | vs Cal | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex | 60 | +10 | +8 | +$18 | |
| Ben | 50 | −10 | −2 | −$12 | |
| Cal | 52 | −8 | +2 | −$6 |
Ben pays Alex $10 and Cal $2; Cal pays Alex $8. The three results sum to zero.
Who can do this
The Commissioner adds 9-Point and picks the players. Everyone can follow it on the board's 9-Point panel and on the scorecard panel.
If it doesn't work
- "9-Point requires exactly 3 or 4 unique players." Adjust the field or the chosen players.
- "[names] need(s) a handicap index before this net money game can start — otherwise they'd play scratch. Add it from the roster." Only the chosen players are checked.
- "The 9-Point game is incomplete or its players need attention. Review the game players and scores before finalizing." A hole is still pending or a player cannot be stroked. Fill the scores or fix the index, then publish again.
