Short answer. Sixes is "Best net ball · partners rotate every six". Four golfers play three 2 vs 2 matches of six holes each, and the partnerships change after holes 6 and 12 so everyone partners everyone once. Each decided six pays each winner and costs each loser the same amount.
How it works
The order you list the golfers sets the rotation. With the order A, B, C, D:
| Holes | Match |
|---|---|
| 1–6 (First six) | A + B vs C + D |
| 7–12 (Second six) | A + C vs B + D |
| 13–18 (Third six) | A + D vs B + C |
Each six is ordinary match play: the side's score is its lower net ball, a side closes the six out when up by more than the holes left, and margins read "4&2", "1 up" or "AS". A hole where any of the four has not posted stays pending and blocks the rest of that six.
Sixes is a net game. Choose Course strokes or Off low when you add it.
Settings
| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Golfers · order sets the rotation | Four different golfers, in order | you choose |
| Swap the 7–12 and 13–18 matchups | Exchanges the second and third pairings | off |
| How are strokes applied? | Course strokes · Off low | Course strokes |
| Handicap allowance | 100 / 95 / 90 / 85 / 80 / 75 or Custom | 90% |
| Value · per player · per six | Dollar amount | $5 |
| Auto-press at 2 down | On · Off | Off |
With auto-press on, the first time a side goes 2 down before the last hole of a six, a second match starts on the next hole through the end of that six for the same stake. The original continues, and each six presses at most once.
Player count
Exactly four unique golfers, on one round of 18 holes. The library warns "18-hole course required" when the course has fewer.
How it's calculated
How the money is split
Per decided six (and per decided press), each winning partner is +value and each losing partner −value. A halved six moves nothing. Sixes is a direct wager between the four players and never joins a Banker pot; the label reads "$5/player/six". Trash rides alongside and never changes these match results.
Worked example
$5 per player per six, no presses.
| Six | Match | Result | Money |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | Alex + Ben vs Cal + Dan | Alex + Ben win 2&1 | Alex +$5, Ben +$5, Cal −$5, Dan −$5 |
| Second | Alex + Cal vs Ben + Dan | Halved (AS) | nothing |
| Third | Alex + Dan vs Ben + Cal | Ben + Cal win 1 up | Ben +$5, Cal +$5, Alex −$5, Dan −$5 |
Day's results: Alex $0, Ben +$10, Cal $0, Dan −$10. Dan pays Ben $10.
Who can do this
The Commissioner adds Sixes and can reorder the golfers, swap the later matchups or change the stake from "Edit money game" → "Save changes". Everyone sees the Sixes panel on the board and on the scorecard, with the exact per-hole strokes used. Sixes is single-round and is not supported with a shotgun start.
If it doesn't work
- "Sixes requires exactly 4 unique players." Pick four distinct players.
- "Sixes requires an 18-hole round." Change the round to 18 holes, or leave Sixes off a nine-hole round.
- All four golfers need a handicap index; see Players without a handicap in a net game.
