Short answer. Nassau is "Front, back, and total". Two players play three matches at once, the front nine, the back nine and the full 18, each for the same stake. Every decided bet pays that amount from loser to winner; a halved bet pays nothing.

How it works

Each segment is scored like Match Play: low net wins the hole, and a match is decided when a side is up by more than the holes left or its last hole is played. Segments come from the card actually played: on nine holes or fewer there is only one bet, the total; otherwise the front is the first half, the back the rest, and the total is all of them.

Auto-press

The toggle reads "Auto-press at 2 down — Start an additional bet whenever a side falls two down, increasing total exposure." With it on, when a side goes 2 down in the front or back match before that nine's last hole, a new press starts from the next hole to the end of that nine for the same stake. Each match presses once, but a press can itself press. The 18 never presses.

The toggle starts off in Create, but older Nassau games may behave differently, so check the setting when you add the game.

Exactly two players, one on each side, in the same tee group. The round can hold more players; only the two you pick are in the Nassau.

How it's calculated

How the money is split

Money moves only on decided bets, base bets and presses alike: the loser pays the winner the bet amount for each. Halved or open bets pay nothing. The board shows the pot as decided bets × bet. Nassau is a direct wager between the two players and never joins a Banker pot. A bet of $0 means no money.

Worked example

$5 each bet, auto-press on, Off low at 100%.

BetResultMoney
Front 9Alex wins 2 upBen pays Alex $5
Back 9Ben wins 3&2Alex pays Ben $5
Press from hole 14 (Alex went 2 down on 13)Ben wins 2&1Alex pays Ben $5
Overall 18Alex wins 1 upBen pays Alex $5

Alex wins two bets and loses two, so the day nets to zero. Had the 18 been halved, Alex would owe Ben $5.

Who can do this

The Commissioner adds the Nassau and picks the two players. Both see it on the board as "Nassau · A vs B" and on the scorecard panel as "Front 9", "Back 9" and "Overall". Nassau is single-round only, and publishing final results waits for every bet, presses included, to be decided.

If it doesn't work

  • "Choose both Nassau sides before adding the game." Pick both players.
  • "Nassau and Match Play cannot start mid-nine. Edit groups to start at Hole 1, or Hole 10 for an 18-hole Round." Fix the shotgun start holes.
  • "N matches are still on the course." A bet is still open at publish time.
