Short answer. Stableford is "Points, not strokes". Each hole earns points for your net score against par, and the worst you can do on a hole is zero. The highest points total for the round wins the pot.
How it works
On every hole Ringer takes your net score (gross minus the strokes you receive there) and compares it to par. With the Standard table:
| Net result | Albatross | Eagle | Birdie | Par | Bogey | Double bogey or worse |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Points | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 |
A blank hole earns nothing and does not count as played. Players rank by points, highest first, with ties grouped on the live board. On a trip, points and holes are summed across every round linked to the game. In Gross mode the gross score is compared to par instead.
Settings
| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| How should we score? | Gross · Net (Course strokes) · Net (Off low) | Net, Course strokes |
| Handicap allowance | 100 / 95 / 90 / 85 / 80 / 75 or Custom (1–200%) | 95% |
| Entry per player | Dollar chips or your own figure | $20 |
| Stableford points | Standard (5/4/3/2/1/0) · Power (8/6/4/2/1/0) · Custom | Standard |
| Payouts | Winner take all · Top 3 / 5 / 10 · Custom | Winner take all |
Custom takes any whole number from 0 to 99 for each band: Albatross, Eagle, Birdie, Par, Bogey and Double+. As the screen says, "This changes the ranking, not the payout."
Player count
One or more players. It works as a solo scoring format as well as a pot.
How it's calculated
How the money is split
The pot is entry × players with a score. With winner take all, every player tied for the most points splits the pot equally, cent-exact; each winner's result is their share minus the entry. A payout plan pays places instead, with ties pooling the places they span. See How each pot is split. Stableford is a fixed pot, so in Banker settlement it flows through the host.
Worked example
A player receiving one stroke on each par 4 (stroke index 5 and 7) and none elsewhere:
| Hole | Par | Strokes here | Gross | Net | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 1 | 5 | 4 (par) | 2 |
| 2 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 2 (birdie) | 3 |
| 3 | 4 | 1 | 8 | 7 (triple) | 0 |
| 4 | 5 | 0 | 5 | 5 (par) | 2 |
Seven points through four holes. The 8 on hole 3 cost nothing worse than a zero.
Four players at $20 entry make an $80 pot. If Alex finishes on 38 points and everyone else lower, Alex collects $80 and is +$60. If Alex and Ben both post 38, each collects $40 and is +$20.
Who can do this
The Commissioner adds the game and edits the points table. Anyone can see the points on the board and the scorecard panel.
If it doesn't work
- "[names] need(s) a handicap index before this net money game can start — otherwise they'd play scratch. Add it from the roster." A Net Stableford with a stake needs every in player to have an index.
- "Check the payout plan. Percentages cannot exceed 100%, and places must be valid." Fix the payout plan before saving.
