Short answer. Pot (Stroke) is "Low score wins the pot". Every player pays the same entry, Ringer subtracts each player's strokes hole by hole, and the lowest net total wins. Ties split the pot. It appears in the game library as "Stroke Play Pot".
How it works
Net on each hole is gross − strokes on that hole. The board totals gross, net and holes played, and ranks by net to par so players on different holes can still be compared. Blank holes are skipped while the round is live; at completion an unfinished card is marked as not finished and ranked below the field. On a trip, Ringer adds up gross, net and to-par across every round linked to the game.
Settings
| Setting | Options | Default |
|---|---|---|
| How should we score? | Gross · Net (Course strokes) · Net (Off low) | Net, Course strokes |
| Handicap allowance | 100 / 95 / 90 / 85 / 80 / 75 or Custom (1–200%) | 95% |
| Entry per player | $1 / $2 / $5 / $10 / $20 / $50 chips or your own figure | $10 |
| Payouts | Winner take all · Top 3 · Top 5 · Top 10 · Custom | Winner take all |
There is no separate "gross pot" game. For a gross pot, set scoring to Gross; nobody receives a stroke.
Player count
Two or more players. The whole round field plays.
How it's calculated
How the money is split
The pot is entry × players with a score (plus any league player whose buy-in is marked paid). With Winner take all, everyone tied for the lowest net splits the pot equally, cent-exact. Each winner's result is their share minus the entry; everyone else is minus the entry.
With a payout plan (Top 3, Top 5, Top 10 or Custom as "% of purse" or "Fixed dollars"), each place is paid its share. Ties pool the places they span and split them evenly. If a fixed-dollar plan does not exactly match the pot, Ringer falls back to winner take all. See How each pot is split.
Pot (Stroke) is a fixed pot, so in Banker settlement the host collects and pays it.
Worked example
Four players, $10 entry, pot $40, Net at 95%.
| Player | Course Handicap | Playing Handicap (95%) | Gross | Net | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex | 12 | 11.4 → 11 | 88 | 77 | +$30 |
| Ben | 6 | 5.7 → 6 | 85 | 79 | −$10 |
| Cal | 18 | 17.1 → 17 | 97 | 80 | −$10 |
| Dan | 9 | 8.55 → 9 | 91 | 82 | −$10 |
Alex wins the $40 pot and is +$30 after his own $10 entry. Had Ben also shot net 77, they would each collect $20 and be +$10.
Who can do this
The Commissioner adds the game and sets the entry and payouts. Any player can view the board.
If it doesn't work
- "[names] need(s) a handicap index before this net money game can start — otherwise they'd play scratch. Add it from the roster." A Net pot with a stake needs every in player to have an index. See Players without a handicap in a net game.
- "Payouts exceed the fixed purse. Reduce the fixed-dollar places or increase the entry." A fixed-dollar plan pays more than the pot holds.
- "N players haven't finished — need all 18 holes." Final results wait for every card.
